ADVANCED RIFLE TECHNOLOGY
LWRC International is the Original and Leading Innovator in Short-Stroke, Gas-Piston Technology.
LWRCI has engineered a complete solution to the deficits found in the direct impingment M16/AR15/M4 family of rifles and carbines. The principal improvement comes from the incorporation of our patented self-regulating short-stroke gas-piston system. This system eliminates the venting of hot, carbon-laden gases into the receiver and bolt carrier group, thus eliminating the intensive cleaning regime of the legacy rifle. It also means the bolt carrier group and associated springs are not subjected to the searing heat of the tapped gases, this being one of the major causes of small parts failure. This translates into carbines that are far more reliable than the legacy direct impingement carbines regardless of user maintenance.
Another benefit of the short-stroke, gas-piston system is the improved handling characteristics of our weapons over the direct impingement legacy weapons. Recoil is lighter and muzzle rise is greatly reduced. Amazingly, this is accomplished in a carbine that is ergonomically identical, weighs almost the same, and retains 80% parts commonality with the legacy direct impingement carbine.
The components of the piston system are machined from SPS ALLOY, a material that belongs to the superalloy family. These superalloys are found in the aerospace industry such as in the blades of gas-turbine jet engines. It is their ability to withstand extremely high temperatures without losing their strength or becoming fatigued which makes them an ideal choice for our advanced piston system.
But this revolutionary short stroke gas piston system is only one of the improvements LWRCI has made in the legacy carbine. Consider these value added features:
LWRCI rifles and carbines utilize cold hammer forged barrels made out of 41V45 steel alloy (per Mil-B-11995E) and treated with NICORR surface conversion technology. NICORR Cold hammer forging takes a gun-drilled barrel blank and high pressure rotary hammers compact the barrel blank over a mandrel. This forms perfect rifling devoid of tool marks. It also compacts the molecular structure of the metal making it denser and stronger. These barrels can take a lot more use and abuse than a standard barrel before any degradation in accuracy or loss of velocity. NICORR surface conversion has proved more lubricious, harder wearing, more heat and corrosion resistant than the hard chrome normally used in the bore. Plus, NICORR is used not only for the bore but over the entire barrel. LWRCI BARRELS CAN HANDLE 20,000 ROUNDS BEFORE REPLACEMENT, as compared to 6,000-10,000 rounds on a standard M4.
Another advantage found in LWRC International rifles and carbines is the patented EXO TECHNOLOGY nickel-alloy coating used on our bolts, bolt carriers, barrel extensions, hammers and triggers. EXO creates a greaseless, permanently lubricious surface that's harder than the substrate itself and unlike chrome, conventional coatings and applied lubricants, it never rubs off, thins out, or builds up crud. This same proprietary coating is in use by USSOCOM to extend the service life of their advanced weapons systems.
All LWRCI weapons chambered in 5.56 NATO and 6.8 SPC feature our ADVANCED COMBAT BOLT (ACB). It features a fully supported bolt face (no undercut for the extractor as on a mil-spec bolt), a whale tale extractor that features two springs instead of the one on a mil-spec bolt, a bolt face groove to collect dirt and brass shavings that might otherwise prevent a cartridge from fully seating, and the EXO coating that provides permanent lubricity and unparalleled wear resistance. All of these enhancements mean that you have a bolt that will last for 20,000 rounds as compared to 6,000 rounds for a mil-spec. With a mil-spec bolt you must change the extractor spring at 3,000 rounds and by 6,000 rounds the bolt has developed micro-fissures and is worn out. On the ACB, we recommend replacing the springs at 10,000 rounds and because the ACB is made from a case hardened steel alloy typically found in race car transmissions, the bolt will continue to operate safely to 20,000 rounds and beyond. In fact we have never worn one of these bolts out and have tested their reliability with one spring and even a single half of one spring, and they still function reliably. The ACB is the ultimate bolt on the market.
LWRCI now offers the option of Cerakote finishes. Cerakote is a unique ceramic based thermoset expoxy finish that is applied over top of the hard coat anodizing. It is extremely durable, abrasion resistant, provides 100% color match finish among the parts, and offers a degree of camouflage in a variety of environments. Standard offerings are FLAT DARK EARTH(FDE) and OLIVE DRAB GREEN (ODG). The FDE guns with FDE furniture are much cooler to the touch when exposed to direct sunlight than are the black guns; an excellent choice for warfighters in desert conditions.
LWRCI is constantly researching the latest technology to bring its customers the most reliable, the most durable and the best handling rifles and carbines in the world. Unlike many of its competitors, LWRCI is not new to the piston game. LWRCI is the original piston driven AR and they've learned from over a decade of incremental improvement. If you want the most technologically advanced rifle on the planet and the best value for your money, the choice is easy: LWRC INTERNATIONAL
